The Recovery Place Client Testimonials

In the years since our inception we have come across thousands of drug or alcohol addicted individuals, each with their specific needs, unique concerns and special hopes for their futures. It is an amazing feeling for the staff of a drug treatment center like ours to receive a letter, a phone call or a visit from one of our alumni who has taken the treatment techniques we taught them and applied them successfully and permanently to change their lives. Here are some of our success stories.

  • A Grateful Parent

The initial support that we got from everyone at The Recovery Place alcohol and drug rehab center was what was important to us.  I was shattered when the reality of my son's drug problem came to light.  The first person I spoke to was Pam Wesson (Family Program Clinician). She immediately made me feel that she felt my pain and that my pain was real.  This support continued through my son's treatment and continues now after he has lived in halfway housing  for 10 months.  I have always felt there is overwhelming support for the family in all of the rehab programs here.  On top of the tools the counselors give to the client, we are given important suggestions on how to deal with our addicted loved one’s more successfully.  I also appreciate that everyone at The Recovery Place is always there for setbacks.  It just gives me a little more peace ...

  • A Family Members Thoughts

What I learned about addiction is that is destroys and separates families and loved ones.  It is a disease that affects everyone.  This drug rehab program at The Recovery Place has helped me tremendously by listening to all the families and their issues. Listening to them gave me the support I needed to be able to understand the extent of my own loved one’s addiction, and how to deal with it. I also learned Edi's tools to help me cope with my loved one’s drug addiction. The Recovery Place family program has helped to teach us coping skills and how not to enable our addicted loved ones, and giving us the strength to be able to say “no” to them. Our loved ones need to learn to stand on their own two feet and fend for themselves. E.M., Family Member

  • M.C. (TRP Alumni)

At The Recovery Place what I learned about my addiction is that it is a disease that will linger inside of me forever.  My addiction is waiting to come out at any time so I have to be ready to fight it with the tools that I've learned at The Recovery Place drug and alcohol treatment center.   My addiction is in remission right now, but it can come back at any time if I am not careful.  I must follow the instructions given to me, such as getting a sponsor and going to meetings and staying clean in order to survive.  This drug rehab program has helped me not to forget where I came from.  Every week I listen to all the parents describe what they are going through with their loved ones, and I can relate to most of them because I've been through it all.  I am able to ...

  • Lost - and found - God and My Own Dignity

“For me, I thought I would never find the right path for my life.  I was absolutely miserable with the way I was living: simply waiting to die. I was beaten and broken – by my own doing.  My disease had finally stolen from me the last shred of dignity I possessed. I desperately needed help but didn’t know where to turn. Someone, my father actually, told me I needed to get into treatment because I had become the biggest loser he’d ever met. That hurt, but it pushed me in the right direction. It was time for me to get off the pity pot and begin taking steps toward recovery. I came across The Recovery Place while searching online for treatment facilities. I liked what I saw, and other people I spoke with had positive things to say about TRP. I left my home state, completely lost and empty, ...

  • Finding the Presence of God in Addiction Recovery

“My name is Steven W. and I am an addict and alcoholic. I came to The Recovery Place on August 2nd 2010.  I came into treatment beaten and broken. I had no spiritual values or hope of ever having any.  I was a believer in Jesus Christ, but I had no relationship with him or understanding of how Jesus could help me with my recovery. All that has changed for me because of the Christian Track at The Recovery Place. The Christian Track has done a lot for me in my recovery. When I walked into the Christian Track primary group I could feel the presence of God. I felt comfortable, a part of the group, and understood. I was able to heal from, and understand, things in my past. I learned coping tools and how to let God take care of me. Most importantly, I learned how to ...
