“For me, I thought I would never find the right path for my life.
I was absolutely miserable with the way I was living: simply waiting to die. I was beaten and broken – by my own doing. My disease had finally stolen from me the last shred of dignity I possessed.
I desperately needed help but didn’t know where to turn. Someone, my father actually, told me I needed to get into treatment because I had become the biggest loser he’d ever met. That hurt, but it pushed me in the right direction.
It was time for me to get off the pity pot and begin taking steps toward recovery. I came across The Recovery Place while searching online for treatment facilities. I liked what I saw, and other people I spoke with had positive things to say about TRP.
I left my home state, completely lost and empty, and I headed to Florida to begin my journey. I was fearful and anxious, not knowing what to expect, but when I got to The Recovery Place I felt more curiosity than fear.
I wanted this thing called “recovery” and I knew immediately I needed God to see me through this process.
When I heard TRP had a Christian track, based on God’s Word and the 12 Steps, I was excited. I immediately signed on for what would be a life-changing chapter of my existence.
I always knew there was a God, but I wasn’t as close to him as I wanted to be.
In Christian rehab at The Recovery Place I learned how to pray for God’s will, and I attribute this all to my counselor, Ms. Charlotte.
Ms. Charlotte was amazing, her love for the Lord shines brightly upon everyone she connects with. Words cannot attest the debt of gratitude I owe her. Teaching us to turn over our will and our lives to the care of God has made a lasting impression on this sick and suffering addict.
She, through her guidance and TRP’s Christian curriculum, has taught me how to live again – in the moment, one day at a time.
I feel free, and closer to God than ever before. I now see I needed to get through the suffering to gain appreciation for and acceptance of life on life’s terms.
I am grateful to have had the spiritual awakening brought on by The Recovery Place Christian rehab center and Ms. Charlotte.
