At The Recovery Place what I learned about my addiction is that it is a disease that will linger inside of me forever.
My addiction is waiting to come out at any time so I have to be ready to fight it with the tools that I've learned at The Recovery Place drug and alcohol treatment center.
My addiction is in remission right now, but it can come back at any time if I am not careful. I must follow the instructions given to me, such as getting a sponsor and going to meetings and staying clean in order to survive.
This drug rehab program has helped me not to forget where I came from. Every week I listen to all the parents describe what they are going through with their loved ones, and I can relate to most of them because I've been through it all.
I am able to give them advice and give them hope, which makes me feel really good and helps me to stay positive.
In order for the families to help their loved ones they need to support them, but not enable them. They can give them love and guidance, but not money or material things. Their loved ones need to learn how to fend for themselves and hit rock bottom in order to build themselves up and recover from their addiction.
