I can sum up my experience at The Recovery Place with a few key words: God, community, love and structure. These are the four things that impacted me most at The Recovery Place.

As one of the few Christian treatment centers out there, I found I was able to speak truly about my faith in God and his son Jesus Christ, and I received a spiritual stomach full of God’s food every day. Many of the clinicians and staff were Christian, and I had no fear of being put down for my beliefs as I had experienced in the rooms of A.A. at times. I also believe that God’s hand of protection is upon this center, and I was able to rest under that umbrella provided by the godly staff members.

I was also in regular close contact with a number of other clients receiving treatment for problems similar to mine and found the environment great for building some true friendships. A lot of bonding happened when I was spilling my guts out and others were doing the same. We even gave each other loving feedback and corrections to help see ourselves more clearly.

If there’s one thing I could say about the clinicians and staff, it’s that they so clearly had a heart of love for us as clients suffering from the disease of addiction. It was so obvious to me that they were motivated and driven by love and genuine concern, and I was more than welcomed in their care.

Lastly, I flourished under the balanced structure of the program, and I am finding myself clinging to a similar structure out here in the real world. I don’t have enough good things to say about The Recovery Place.
