Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Invested in Your Long-Term Recovery
Recovery from addiction isn’t a 30-day process. Long-term sobriety requires ongoing treatment and a strong support network. The Recovery Place provides that continued care and support through our Evening Intensive Outpatient Program (EIOP), which helps you develop the skills and relationships you need to sustain your recovery from alcohol and other drug use.
The Recovery Place’s EIOP began as a way to help clients in our residential program transition back into the community after treatment. Today, this Fort Lauderdale outpatient addiction treatment program is open to anyone who needs structure and support in their recovery process, whether or not you’ve been part of a Recovery Place residential program, or any program at all. We only require that you are:
- In recovery
- Age 18 or older
- Willing to participate and commit to attending one 12-Step meeting a day for 90 days
- Employed, looking for work or enrolled in school
What to Expect From Outpatient Addiction Treatment
In our intensive outpatient drug rehab program, you’ll meet with other participants from 6 to 9 p.m. three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) for 15 weeks. In this group setting, you’ll discuss challenges to your recovery, examine feelings, and receive support and guidance from those who are sharing your journey.
Each EIOP group is run by experienced, master’s level clinicians who act as facilitators to the give and take, and who can help you learn a range of valuable recovery skills, including:
- Coping with drug cravings
- Accepting and acting on feedback
- Practicing effective communication
- Finding ways to reduce stress
- Identifying anger triggers and learning effective ways to deal with anger
- Improving decision-making abilities
- Creating healthy relationships
Journaling is an important part of the healing process. Using MEE Interactive Journaling, an evidence-based modality, you’ll track your progress and learn to put your words into practice. And as part of your commitment to recovery, each day for 90 days you’ll attend a 12-Step meeting of your choice, whether Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous or others. Your group clinician can help you find convenient meetings nearby and assist you in making selections that best suit your needs.
Although you work as a group in our evening intensive outpatient program, you are always assured individual support and attention. For example, your clinician can provide personalized educational materials and help you connect with additional recovery resources, both in the community and online.
When the 15-week EIOP ends, continued support is available through a once-a-week aftercare program.
